On July 10, 2024, the patrol vessel LA RÉSOLUE, while on duty in French territorial waters off the coast of French Guiana near the Brazilian border, intercepted the Brazilian ship COMTE MICHAEL 2 engaging in illegal fishing activities. The Director General of Territories and the Sea ordered the diversion of the vessel, a repeat offender, to the port of Larivot where the captain was placed in custody. The remaining crew members have been given 48 hours to leave French territory. This operation led to the seizure of nearly 9 tons of fish, 10 kg of swim bladders, and 3 km of nets. A request for the destruction of the vessel has been submitted to the judge of liberties and detention.
