For the first time, the JS Kunisaki, participated in the multilateral HA/DR exercise MARARA2024, organized by the French military stationed in Polynesia.
On this occasion, the JS Kunisaki served as the command base for the exercise. France deployed the overseas support and assistance vessel Bougainville, the surveillance frigate Prairial, and the patrol vessel Arago.
This international-level exercise, held from May 27 to June 8, brought together 15 partner nations from the Pacific: the United States, Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Peru, the Philippines, Vanuatu, Thailand, New Zealand, Indonesia, Tonga, and Fiji. The objective was to enhance joint cooperation and interoperability among the Pacific partner forces, particularly in the context of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations (HA/DR).
By organizing this exercise, France demonstrates its capability to cooperate with the nations of the region for the security of their populations.
