The Indian Navy intercepted a dhow in the Western Arabian Sea on April 13, seizing a staggering 940 kilograms of contraband narcotics. Operating under the umbrella of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), the Indian Naval frigate INS Talwar, engaged in maritime security operations, executed its first drug interdiction since joining the CMF.
Led by the Canadian-led Combined Task Force (CTF) 150, the operation, codenamed Crimson Barracuda, showcased the prowess of INS Talwar’s specialist boarding teams and MARCOs in combating illicit activities at sea. The seized narcotics are now slated for disposal following CMF standard operating procedures.
India’s collaboration with CMF underscores its commitment to regional security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). Having joined CMF in July 2022, India has consistently contributed to multinational efforts aimed at safeguarding international waters. The participation of Indian Navy assets in CMF-led operations reflects a broader strategy of cooperative maritime security.
