2.77 Tons Cocaine Seizure at Le Havre Port

Le Havre customs services seized a staggering 2.77 tons of cocaine on March 18th. The illicit substances, packed into 2,440 loaves of cocaine , were concealed within moving crates inside a container arriving from Guadeloupe.

This latest interception follows two major busts earlier this year in January, where customs officials confiscated 771 kilograms on the 20th and 1.14 tons on the 23rd (referenced from BQSM dated February 10, 2024). The government’s response to the escalating drug trade was evident on March 7th when the Minister Delegate for Public Accounts visited Le Havre to announce bolstered measures, including the deployment of 15 additional customs officers and a mobile scanner to combat cocaine trafficking through the port.

Nationally, nearly 10 tons of cocaine were seized from containers in 2022, underscoring the scale of the challenge authorities face in curbing drug smuggling.

This latest seizure reaffirms the need for continuous vigilance and robust enforcement measures to stem the flow of narcotics through critical transportation hubs.
