India-US QUAD Partnership Strengthens Indo-Pacific Security

In a groundbreaking development, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has highlighted the robust partnership between India and the United States in promoting a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific through the QUAD alliance with Japan and Australia. Speaking at the fifth 2+2 India-US Ministerial Dialogue in Delhi today, on November 10, Antony Blinken underscored the shared commitment to a prosperous and resilient region.

The focus of the partnership includes enhancing maritime domain awareness by sharing commercial satellite data to combat illegal activities such as phishing, piracy, and drug trafficking. Moreover, coordinated efforts for humanitarian relief and disaster response in the Indo-Pacific were underlined.

Blinken commended the ambitious agenda set during Prime Minister Modi’s state visit to the US in June, stating that concrete steps have been taken to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership. Describing the India-US relationship as the “strongest ever,” Blinken acknowledged India’s leadership in the G20 and its pivotal role in the Indo-Pacific.

The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, an annual diplomatic summit, is pivotal in addressing bilateral and global issues, with a particular focus on developments in the Indo-Pacific region. The QUAD partnership, coupled with India’s participation in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity, signifies a concerted effort to foster connectivity, resilience, and fairness in the region.
