Project for innovative, compostable and biodegradable fishing nets

Ghost nets, fishing nets that have fallen to the bottom of the sea, represent 30% of the waste at sea. The Estuaries Picards and of sea Opale Marine Natural Park has decided to combat this pollution with a world first: compostable and biodegradable fishing nets.
The Park wants to make these nets compulsory for the entire fishing area. A biodegradable net will take 8 to 10 years to degrade without microparticles, as opposed to 400 years for a conventional net. An experiment is underway to test them in real conditions and, to date, it still gives the advantage to classic nets for their resistance.
