The Indian Navy, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), intercepted a suspicious dhow in the Arabian Sea, seizing a significant quantity of contraband. The coordinated effort led to the apprehension of a vessel carrying approximately 3,300 kilograms of narcotics, including 3,089 kilograms of Charas, 158 kilograms of Methamphetamine, and 25 kilograms of Morphine, making it the largest drug seizure by the Indian Navy to date.
The interception was executed based on intelligence provided by the P8I LRMR aircraft during a surveillance mission, directing the Navy’s ship to intercept the smuggling vessel. The operation, conducted near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), resulted in the seizure of the contraband and the detention of five crew members.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the collaborative efforts of the Indian Navy, Gujarat Police, and NCB, emphasizing the government’s commitment to combating drug trafficking. The seized narcotics, along with the apprehended boat and crew, have been handed over to law enforcement agencies at an Indian port, with the operation garnering significant acclaim for its success in combating illicit activities at sea.
