The Maritime Information Cooperation & Awareness Center (MICA Center) is a French Navy center of expertise, based in Brest, dedicated to maritime security on a global scale. It occupies a crucial position in the preservation of ship safety, particularly in the face of recent tensions in the Red Sea caused by the Houthis. By promoting the exchange of information and cooperation to counter maritime threats, the MICA Center strengthens the security of the oceans by working closely with shipowners and over 60 French and foreign private companies.
The MICA Center’s activities are of particular importance in maritime zones under tension, such as the Red Sea, where the insecurity created by the Houthis calls for heightened vigilance. As a central point for data convergence and coordinated action, the center facilitates a rapid response to emerging threats, ensuring the protection of the interests of shipowners and companies operating in this sensitive zone.
