In an outstanding display of precision and resilience, the Portsmouth-based destroyer HMS Dauntless has increased its total haul of seized illegal drugs to over £200 million. During routine anti-narcotics patrols in the Caribbean, HMS Dauntless, supported by her Wildcat helicopter and Royal Marine sniper team, intercepted a 35-foot motorboat, resulting in the seizure of 330kg of cocaine worth $60 million. In a separate incident, suspected smugglers sank their speedboat, prompting a dramatic rescue operation that saved two lives.

Commander Ben Dorrington of the HMS Dauntless commended his team’s unwavering dedication and attention to detail, emphasizing their pivotal role in the recent successful interdiction operations. The ship, deployed to the Caribbean for joint anti-drug smuggling efforts, collaborates closely with U.S. authorities, boasting advanced technology and a skilled team prepared for complex boarding operations.

During their previous summer operation, the Dauntless team seized an impressive £140 million drugs bust, capturing 1,230kg from a drug-running go-fast. Their continued success, including the recent interception of a suspicious aircraft, underscores their seamless coordination with U.S. forces, underscoring their commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the region.
