The Djibouti-flagged oil supertanker YOUNG YONG, loaded with approximately 284,000 tonnes of crude oil, which ran aground on 27 October near Takong Kecil Island, just outside the Singapore Strait, has been refloated and towed to the Nipah anchorage area, a few nautical miles west of where it ran aground.

The vessel was sanctioned by the US immediately after the accident, with the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (Ofac) classifying the vessel on 2 November as having links to the Iranian regime and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
