The MICA Center Annual Report 2023 is Out!

Based in Brest, the MICA Center collects and relays useful information to all actors in the field of maritime industry. Its purpose is to process maritime security data worldwide.

The maritime world is exposed to increasingly pressing challenges, particularly those linked to illegal trafficking, such as drugs and migratory smuggling.

The current geostrategic situation is causing instability, raising concerns about the safety of seafarers and the fluidity of maritime traffic.

After a troubled period in the Gulf of Guinea,followed two years ago by the conflict in the Black Sea, attention is now once again focused on the Red Sea, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

With the exception of the Indian Ocean and the Black Sea, all theaters of the sea saw a significant increase in the number of incidents reported, without any major deterioration in sailing conditions.

Below you can read the annual report on piracy and maritime crime worldwide. The aim of the report is to analyze incidents by taking stock of the trends and anomalies anomalies observed. It aims to contribute to the safety of sailors and seafarers.
