Illegal drugs worth $25 million seized from stateless ship

On 3 October, the Coast Guard cutter Sentinel USCGC John Scheuerman (WPC 1146) seized approximately $25 million worth of illegal drugs from a stateless vessel in international waters in the Gulf of Oman.

The operation was conducted under the command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150. 360 kilograms of methamphetamine, 107 kilograms of heroin and 1,961 kilograms of hashish were found on board during the interception.

This is the second time in a month that the CTF 150 has intercepted illegal drugs at sea since the French Navy took command. Last month, the Royal Navy frigate HMS Lancaster (F229) seized more than 450 kilograms of illegal drugs, including heroin and hashish, worth around $9.5 million during a CTF 150 operation in the Arabian Sea.
