An ancient roman-era shipwreck found

On July 28, Italian police announced the discovery of a Roman-era shipwreck 40 miles off Civitavecchia. The wreck, lying at a depth of 160 meters, could date back to the 1st or 2nd century BC.
It measures some twenty meters and is covered with amphorae, the contents of which are unknown.
It was located and explored using a specialized underwater robot belonging to the Italian Cultural Heritage Protection Police.
The authorities have not released any information on the fate of the wreck. As this type of discovery is rare, it could well attract the interest of looters.
