Reinforcement of the Suez Canal tugboats
On June 6th, Kongsberg Maritime, a Norwegian shipbuilder, has won a contract with Egypt. It will design and equip 2 tugboats.
The estimated delivery date is between 2025 and 2026. The new tugboats will join the fleet of salvage vessels operating in the Suez Canal.
Since the Ever Given incident in 2021, the Suez Canal Authority has been looking to strengthen its salvage force.
With 12% of the world’s trade passing through the canal, salvage operations must be fast and efficient.
