The Ivorian Navy’s Fleet is expanding
The Minister of State, Minister of Defence, Téné Birahima Ouattara, presided over the naming ceremony of the OPV45 deep-sea patrol vessel “Espérance” for the Ivorian Navy in Abidjan on Thursday 15 June 2023.
This is the second deep-sea vessel in 6 months and the sixth acquisition for the Ivorian Navy since 2014. This undeniably demonstrates the country’s commitment to optimising the Ivorian navy’s operational capabilities in order to increase the State’s sovereignty in waters under national jurisdiction.
This latest acquisition strengthens the Ivorian territorial waters surveillance system and consolidates Ivory coast’s status as a leader in the sub-region.
