CSSF alerts on lifeboats

The Container Ship Safety Forum (CSSF) has alerted the public to the issue of lifeboats. These are the reason for many injuries and even deaths. The Forum on Container Ship Safety is calling for significant improvements to be made about lifeboats.

Launching lifeboats is a risky operation. According to a 2017 study, more than 60 deaths were recorded during lifeboat trials over a 10-year period.

The launch system caused nearly 16% of the total lives lost by merchant mariners. Those who survived suffered severe spinal and lower extremity injuries.
