Second vessel hijacked by Iranian Authorities
Iran hijacked its second vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The Niovi is flying Panama flagged. She was departed from Dubai and was transiting towards the port of Fujairah in EAU.
On May 3rd, at 6h20, local hour, the Islamic Revolutionnary Guard Corps Navy circled the vessel. The merchant vessel was forced to reverse her course into Iranian territorial waters during the seizure.
Tehran said the Suezmax tanker struck an Iranian fishing boat. However, many observers affirms that it is a response to the seizure by the USA of a ship carrying Iranian oil.
It the second illegal seizure made by Iran authorities, after the Advanage Sweet in the Gulf of Oman.
