During the night of January 13-14, as part of the “Manikou” operation against illicit trafficking. “La Violette“, a coastal patrol vessel of the “Gendarmerie Maritime” (PCG) , based in Guadeloupe, intercepted a go-fast vessel bound for Guadeloupe. This operation resulted in the seizure of 10.88 kg of cannabis by the Gendarmerie maritime with the cooperation of the customs service.
Earlier this month, 366kg of cocaine were seized. While the manner in which drugs are transported into Guadeloupe appears to be the norm, the police consider the amount seized to be exceptional.
“Manikou” operations are regularly scheduled in the maritime zone of the French Antilles. These are combined sea-land operations to control inter-island flows, involving various services, including customs and the gendarmerie.
