Last week, Captain Paul Watson and the national leaders of Sea Shepherd France, UK and Brazil split from Sea Shepherd Global and founded Sea Shepherd Origins.
This split is the result of differences within the NGO, founded by Paul Watson in 1977, which has always had a mission to protect marine wildlife.
While some wish to limit direct action and change their image in order to collaborate with governments, the secessionists wish to keep the independent and provocative spirit that has characterised Sea Shepherd since its creation.

when a gov rules that an area is a sea life conservation they have to back that up with protection, but many do not, hence the need for independant action; look forward to a time when all that’s needed is collaboration…in the mean time, best wishes to paul and co.
