Endangered species in marine environments

Many marine species are endangered due to overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. Species such as the vaquita, a small porpoise found in the Gulf of California, are on the brink of extinction, with fewer than 10 individuals remaining. Coral reefs, which support a quarter of all marine species, are also under threat, with 50% of the world’s coral reefs already lost due to climate change and pollution. Conservation efforts focus on protecting critical habitats, enforcing anti-poaching laws, and promoting sustainable practices. Understanding and addressing the threats to endangered marine species is vital for preserving marine biodiversity.
